Professional Experience
Mr. Luís Lopes is an experienced professional in supply chain management, maritime and port logistics, and international trade. He is currently a Guest Lecturer at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, where he leads the “Supply Chain Management” course in the postgraduate program in Maritime and Port Logistics. He also serves as the WP9 Coordinator at IPS, overseeing the Nexus Academy for training human resources in digital and green transition strategies for ports and multimodal networks.
As a researcher and consultant, he collaborates on national and international projects, focusing on logistics sustainability, digital transformation, and operational efficiency in maritime-port sectors. His expertise extends to strategic planning, procurement, and business model innovation, with past projects including contributions to the Ethiopian Maritime Authority’s National Logistics Strategy and the Commercial Agriculture Development Project in Angola.
Previously, Mr. Lopes held leadership roles in Angola, serving as Logistics Director at Grupo Sodosa and TOMPTrading, where he implemented Lean logistics strategies, digitalized logistics operations, and managed large-scale distribution networks. Earlier in his career, he was Procurement & Logistics Manager at NOVAGEST, SA, overseeing supply chain operations, global sourcing strategies, and logistics compliance.
