Dr. Edna Maria Vissoci Reiche completed her Ph.D. in Medicine and Health Sciences at the Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL), Brazil, from 2002 to 2005. Her doctoral research focused on the epidemiological, immunological characteristics and genetic polymorphism of the stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF1) in the context of HIV-1 transmission and progression in the Londrina region. She also holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from UEL (1994-1996), where she worked on alternative diagnostic methods for Chagas disease. Dr. Reiche’s education also includes a specialization in Higher Education Methodology from UEL (1982-1984), and a specialization in Introductory Trends in Medical Education from the University of Dundee, Scotland, in 1997. She earned her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from UEL in 1978.

Dr. Reiche has had a long and distinguished career in academia. From 1980 to 2019, she served as a Professor at UEL, where she held the position of Associate Professor C, with a full-time dedication to teaching and research in health sciences. She is currently a Senior Professor at UEL, working with the graduate programs in Health Sciences and Clinical and Laboratory Pathophysiology. Since 2022, she has also been a Professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR), Campus Londrina, where she teaches in the School of Medicine.
