🏢 Professional Experience:
Dr. Pop currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Department of Electric Machines and Drives. In this role, he leads and supports courses in Electrical Machines & Drives, Microcontrollers, and Advanced Programming (LabVIEW, FPGA, STM32, Texas Instruments, etc.), while supervising graduate projects and R&D activities. Prior to academia, he held leadership roles in the industry, including a tenure as Engineering Manager at Emerson-Leroy Somer, where he directed new product development, laboratories, and managed design and testing teams for electrical machines and software applications.
Dr. Pop is the project leader for the MiDiNA project, a multidisciplinary study focused on microgrid implementation for power supply in African countries under critical conditions. He is also a project member in MAXIMA, aimed at developing modular permanent magnet axial flux machines for automotive applications, emphasizing optimal control, digital twin implementation, and lifecycle assessment to reduce environmental impact.
