Dr. Safiki Ainomugisha has amassed a diverse professional experience that spans both academia and industry. Currently serving as an Assistant Lecturer at Makerere University’s Department of Construction Economics and Management since August 2021, he is actively involved in teaching undergraduate courses focused on construction and quantity surveying. Prior to this role, Dr. Ainomugisha held positions as a Part-time Lecturer at Kyambogo University’s Department of Lands and Architectural Studies from August 2017 to 2021, where he imparted knowledge on subjects related to lands and architectural studies.

His academic career also includes a tenure as a Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering in the International University of East Africa from August 2018 to 2022, where he delivered lectures on various civil engineering topics. Beyond academia, Dr. Ainomugisha gained extensive industry experience as a Quantity Surveyor at Uhudi Engineering Company Ltd. from August 2012 to 2018, focusing on quantity surveying tasks for construction projects. He also served briefly as a Quantity Surveyor at Multiplex Uganda Ltd. in 2012, further enriching his professional background in the construction sector.

Dr. Ainomugisha’s research primarily focuses on sustainable construction practices and the development of eco-friendly construction materials. His current research involves the utilization of agricultural waste materials such as sugarcane bagasse and rice husks to produce supplementary cementitious materials. He has successfully executed projects exploring eco-cement production and the feasibility of nano sugarcane bagasse ash in cement-based materials.
