M.Sc.: Dr. Chavan pursued his Master of Science degree in Botany, specializing in Cytogenetics and Plant Breeding, from the Department of Botany at Shivaji University, Kolhapur, India. He completed his M.Sc. in 2007 with first-class honors, earning a percentage of 67.67%.

Ph.D.: He obtained his Ph.D. in Botany with a focus on Plant Biotechnology from the Department of Botany, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, India. He was awarded his Ph.D. degree in 2012.
